There’s still plenty of time for the New Orleans Saints to bring in an impactful free agent before training camp kicks off next month. While the team is pretty stacked (even with Drew Brees’ retirement), there are still several positions needing to be addressed and could have an immediate starter through free agency.

Let’s check out three free agents who could jump into action right from the jump should the Saints sign them.

Free Agents Who Could Start for New Orleans Saints – No. 3: Kwon Alexander

I wrote an article the other day about how the Saints could benefit from re-signing Kwon Alexander but injuries are likely the main reason why he hasn’t been retained to this point. The soon-to-be 27-year-old linebacker has battled injuries throughout his career and suffered one in December while he was donning a Saints uniform.

Be that as it may, the Saints have a need at linebacker and Alexander could fit the need. Demario Davis has one of the starting jobs locked up, and rightfully so, but the Saints clearly don’t have much faith in Zack Baun moving forward, as they selected Ohio State linebacker Pete Werner in the second round this year.

Both Baun and Werner are going to see the field, but will they be able to make the impact the Saints need from their defense? Alexander showed he could be a good player for this team and fit their scheme well up until he got injured.

If Alexander is healthy, the Saints need to bring him in because he’d make a huge difference for their linebacker position.
