In order for the Saints to win the NFC South, Jameis Winston has to limit the turnovers.

Assuming that Jameis Winston does indeed win the starting quarterback job in 2021, he’s going to have to cut down on interceptions. This was a major problem for him in Tampa Bay and is one of the main reasons he’s no longer their quarterback, as he threw 30 interceptions in 2019.

Winston can sling the ball like nobody else and no one is doubting how talented he is. He went No. 1 overall in 2015 and while he didn’t lead the Bucs to the Super Bowl during his time there, his defense wasn’t anywhere near as talented as the Saints’ defense is, so he was always forced to play catch-up.

After throwing for 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2019, Winston proved he can throw the ball down the field and put up points. The biggest question mark surrounding the former No. 1 overall pick is — Can he limit the turnovers?

If Winston can trim down on the picks even just by half, that’s manageable for New Orleans. But one thing is for sure and that’s that the Saints won’t be winning their fifth straight division title is Winston throws more than 20 picks again.
