Toughest WRs on New Orleans Saints Schedule: No. 1 – Davante Adams

This could be subject to change if Aaron Rodgers gets traded and isn’t with the Packers come Week 1 of the NFL season. For now though, we’ll go ahead and play along with the theories of Rodgers staying put and that Davante Adams will have his quarterback for at least one more year.

The Saints will be tasked with trying to prevent Adams from having a big game in Week 1 of the regular season, which sets the tone for what their defense needs to do throughout the season. Adams is coming off a huge year in Green Bay, tallying 115 receptions for 1,374 yards and a whopping 18 trips into the end zone.

Adams had his way with secondaries last season and he’ll look to do that again in 2021, with or without Rodgers throwing him the ball. His best performance during the 2020 season was when he completely destroyed the Titans in Week 16, grabbing 11 receptions for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

The Saints didn’t have to face Adams last year but they’ve seen him two times before that and limited him to just 12 yards when they met up in 2017. Adams has yet to find the end zone against New Orleans, but that is probably going to change in this Week 1 showdown in the Superdome.

It won’t be easy for the New Orleans Saints to slow down these receivers but if they can, fans will certainly feel good about the secondary moving forward because these guys are no joke! All of them have the ability to go off for 100+ yards and multiple touchdowns in each and every game.

Let’s hope the Saints are able to prevent them from having massive days.
