Why Jameis Winston should start for Saints – More experienced quarterback

The easiest reason is that Winston has more experience as a starting quarterback in the NFL than Hill does. Prior to the 2020 season when Brees got injured, Hill had never started at quarterback in a professional game, which is why fans were skeptical when Sean Payton had him start those four games.

Winston is a former No. 1 overall pick and has balled out in many seasons for the Buccaneers. His numbers are always lopsided when it comes to the interceptions, but he can clearly sling the football and put up points. That’s never been a huge issue for Winston, it’s been the turnovers that have ailed him, which hopefully, Payton can help with.

The Saints are still a very good football team even without Brees and their offense still grades out as one of the top 10 units in the league. Winston threw for over 5,100 yards and 33 touchdowns the last time we saw him in a starting role and that’s why he should start for the Saints.
