Players to concern New Orleans Saints – No. 2: Terrace Marshall, WR (Panthers)

Forewarning Saints fans — This one could really hurt down the road.

Not only did Terrace Marshall Jr. play college football down the road at LSU but the Saints actually wanted to draft him in the second round, per Josh Altorfer of Sports Illustrated. Carolina got wind of it and took Marshall with pick No. 59, not even getting the Saints a chance to really think about what he could look like in black and gold.

Not only could Marshall have been a member of the Saints (and they desperately needed a No. 2 wide receiver) but now he’ll be catching passes as a Panther. Marshall’s receiving yard numbers aren’t the flashiest but what stands out about him is his threat level in the red zone. Marshall had 23 touchdowns over the past two seasons, including 13 in 2019 with Joe Burrow as his quarterback.

Now, Marshall returns to work with former LSU offensive coordinator Joe Brady and he’s going to thrive in the NFL. We’ll see if the Sam Darnold experiment works out for the Panthers but if it does, giving him Marshall to throw to will be a genius move. Knowing Marshall should have been a Saint is going to make watching him succeed a tough pill to swallow.
