The Saints have a cornerback need — or do they? Most of the mock drafts surround the previous 2021 NFL Draft had the Saints taking a cornerback in the first round despite who was left on the board at the No. 28 pick in the draft.

Analysts linked them to players like Caleb Farley, Greg Newsome, Tyson Campbell, Asante Samuel Jr., and more. However, they went completely the opposite way and drafted a defensive end that was projected to be a late second to early third-round pick.

After the team didn’t draft a cornerback in the first round, most of us had the team needed to search for a cornerback left in free agency to complete the roster, despite the team drafting Paulson Adebo in the third round of the NFL Draft.

Heavily linked to the Saints, Richard Sherman speaks out about the potential landing spot in New Orleans for the former Pro-Bowler.

Recently, after being heavily linked to a Saints need, Richard Sherman spoke out about the need that the team has. Sherman said he would very much welcome a call from New Orleans asking him to come down and fill the supposed need.

But, Sherman said the exact opposite of most people, that the team doesn’t have a need at cornerback like everyone thinks they have.

Currently, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, a safety cornerback hybrid, is listed as the starting cornerback for this season. The team also now has Adebo who is supposed to be a pretty talented rookie out of Stanford.

If it was up to the fans, most people would welcome a name like Richard Sherman on the defense, and maybe that is still a possibility. But is Sherman right? Do the Saints actually not have a need that most of us think still needs to be filled?
