The Saints still need to work on their interior defensive line.

It almost feels like the Saints forgot that they lost Sheldon Rankins and Malcom Brown this offseason. The two of them were the extent of the interior defensive line for the Saints at least last year if not the last couple of years.

Now, the team is working with David Onyemata which isn’t a bad play, but they also have Malcolm Roach starting who doesn’t have a ton of experience. He is only in his second year, and he didn’t start a single game for the black and gold in 2020.

The team did reach out and sign Josiah Bronson as an undrafted free agent, but at that point, you are just adding depth more than anything which is fine considering you have two main replacements for the two interior DL positions.

Either way, they are still going to need help whether that is developing Bronson or Jalen Dalton, or whether that is going out and signing someone else. It all depends on the cap money involved and still available.

The Saints are probably looking to develop Bronson as they gave him a massive $140,000 contract with a $25,000 signing bonus as an undrafted free agent.
