The Saints don’t want to see the Panthers draft Trey Lance.

Most mock drafts have the quarterback from North Dakota State going somewhere inside of the top five picks. However, if you are Chris Simms from CBS, you have Trey Lance as the No. 6 best quarterback available in the draft.

If that is the case, then the Panthers have the opportunity to get him at No. 8. Despite trading for Sam Darnold in the offseason, if Lance is available, the Panthers could pull the trigger on another quarterback — especially since Bridgewater has been rumored to be in trade talks on draft night.

After not playing in his freshman year, Lance completely broke out in his sophomore season. In 2019, Lance threw for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns in 16 college games at a mid-major college with minimal weapons.

Lance is also a mobile quarterback. In that same season, Lance ran for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns. Because of his dual-threat tendencies, the Saints don’t want to see someone like Trey Lance paired up with Christian McCaffrey in the NFC South.
