Post-free agency Saints hot seat: Patrick Robinson

For now, it feels like the Saints could be rocking with Patrick Robinson as their No. 2 cornerback. That’s not ideal as they move forward in free agency. Richard Sherman is still on the board, but the Saints have little-to-no cap space to work with.

This will be Robinson’s fourth season in his second stint with the Saints since being their first-round draft pick back in 2010. The 33-year-old had 13 tackles in 12 games, starting 4, last season. He tacked on a tackle for a loss and four passes defended as well.

"“Neither Robinson nor Williams have shown they have the chops to start out on the boundary for any length of time,” Saints Wire’s John Sigler wrote."

The Saints still have the upcoming NFL draft to bolster their weapons at cornerback. They’ll need to as well. Regardless, Robinson and PJ Williams both will still need to step this season, and if they don’t they could easily not return in 2022.

Any cornerback not named Marshon Lattimore (and to be honest even Lattimore in a contract year that’ll potentially help or hurt his next deal) will be on the hot season.
