Saints’ DE Wayne Martin should be in the Hall of Fame before Edelman.

Wayne Martin spent his entire career with the New Orleans Saints playing in the defensive end role. Martin was severely overlooked for many accolades during his career — the Hall of Fame continuing to be the biggest one.

In his eleven seasons, Martin started 155 games of 171 that he appeared in, and if you take out his rookie season, Martin started 155 of 155 games the next ten seasons. He proved that he was one of the most durable linemen that there was.

He finished his career with 82.5 sacks and almost strung together six seasons in a row with over ten sacks. In terms of New Orleans Saints’ history, that ranks third behind just Rickey Jackson and Cameron Jordan. He also added almost 600 tackles in those years.

Wayne Martin was one of the best pass rushers that the Saints have had. When you dominate on the defense like that for so long, you deserve your shot at the Hall of Fame for the mark you put on the game.
