Saints potential trade to No. 8 with the Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers were looking to be in the market for a quarterback despite getting Teddy Bridgewater last year after releasing Cam Newton. However, they went out and traded for New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.

They could still go quarterback with this pick, but it is not as important as it once was. There is still projected to be Justin Fields, Mac Jones, or Trey Lance on the board, but I think the Panthers get protection for their new quarterback.

Current No. 8 projection: OL, Penei Sewell, Oregon

That is if they decide to keep this pick. They could still get protection if they traded down which might make trade more appealing. After getting rid of their entire offensive line depth, the Saints could use another lineman to start or backup the current ones.

As we raise the picks, we also raise the values. This pick is valued at 1,400. They could probably pry it away from the Panthers for two firsts and a second though. With roughly equal valued firsts that would be 1,600 approximately.
