Saints need to thrive in 2021: Pass Protection

The Saints offensive line allowed 29 sacks in 2020 on Drew Brees (13), Taysom Hill (14), and Jameis Winston (2) combined. That is not bad in comparison to Carson Wentz of the Colts who took 50 sacks from his offensive line last year in Philadelphia.

However, the Green Bay Packers only allowed 20 all year, the Kansas City Chiefs allowed 22, and the Pittsburgh Steelers only allowed 14 on the year. The Saints will see two of those three teams this coming season.

Compared to the entire NFL, they are one of the middle best.

Compared to the teams that played in the playoffs last year, they were barely on par. When it comes to making a deep run into the playoffs next season, they are going to have to keep Jameis Winston upright.

They have brought back all of their starters, but they have let a lot of their depth walk. They no longer have longtime backups Will Clapp and Nick Easton so other players are going to have to step up big if anyone goes down.
