Draft expert sees New Orleans Saints drafting Davis Mills
The NFL Draft rumors are in full swing. To recap who we have already looked at the Saints draft, they include Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Caleb Farley, Zaven Collins, Trevon Moehrig, Jaelen Phillips, Jamin Davis, and Elijah Moore — just to name a few.
When you look specifically at quarterbacks, the black and gold have been rumored recently to be extensively interested in University of Florida quarterback Kyle Trask. My personal preference would have the Saints drafting Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond.
Mike Miller, as a guest on GetUp, said that he thought the Saints should be the ones to draft Mills when he falls to the late first-round. He followed up his on-air performance with a tweet saying, “Stanford QB Davis Mills is a red hot name in NFL Draft circles right now.”
Trask isn’t the only quarterback rumored to be a Saints option at No. 28; Davis Mills has shot his way up the draft boards and could be an option.
Regardless of if you think the Saints have found their long-term quarterback in Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill, you can’t argue that bringing in another potential star at the quarterback position fresh out of college is a bad thing.
During his freshman year in 2018, Mills barely played a snap. However, he turned his career on quickly becoming the starter in Stanford the next season. He ended up playing eight games in 2019 and five games in 2020 in three years in college.
During those three years, Mills threw 287 completions for 3,468 yards and 18 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He also completed 65.5 percent of his attempts from 2018-2020. Mills has been the topic of many draft conversations as of late.
In mock drafts, Davis has lightning bolted his way to first-round conversations. It has been a great story to follow. He has dealt with numerous college injuries, which is why he only played 13 collegiate games, but his size and talent make him a very sought-after NFL quarterback.
