New Orleans Saints 2017 draft class listed as “Best Class since 2015”
The New Orleans Saints were listed as the best NFL Draft class since 2015 for their 2017 selections. Mike Renner from PFF, listed them first among the 2016 Jaguars, the 2020 Buccaneers, the 2016 Cowboys, and the 2016 Chiefs.
The Saints had multiple starters from almost all seven rounds in the 2017 NFL Draft. Here is a look through the draft and what those players have done for the black and gold since their arrival in 2017 to New Orleans.
Round 1, Pick 11 – CB, Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State
Since his arrival in New Orleans, Lattimore hasn’t started in less than 13 games per season. In four years, he has totaled 10 interceptions, one touchdown, 55 passes defended, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and 230 combined tackles.
According to PFF’s Mike Renner, the New Orleans Saints 2017 NFL Draft class is listed as the top draft class since 2015.
Round 1, Pick 32 – OT, Ryan Ramczyk, Wisconsin
Ryan Ramczyk has been one of the most durable, consistent, and valuable tackles in the entire NFL since his arrival. He has only missed one game in four seasons for New Orleans. He has also been selected to one first-team Pro-Bowl
Round 2, Pick 42 – S, Marcus Williams, Utah
Marcus Williams was franchise tagged this year to avoid letting him go. In four years, Williams has 13 interceptions, 30 passes defended, 1.0 sacks, and 246 tackles. He has also missed only four games in four years.
Round 3, Pick 67 – RB, Alvin Kamara, Tennessee
Alvin Kamara has arguably been the best running back in recent years drafted as low as he went. He has since rushed for 3,340 yards and 443 touchdowns and also caught 326 receptions for 2,824 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Round 3, Pick 76 – LB, Alex Anzalone, Florida
Alex Anzalone has been a bright spot on the linebacker corps since his drafting. However, Anzalone has battled injuries throughout the early stages of his career that have led him to be worse than he could have been.
Round 3, Pick 103 – LB, Trey Hendrickson, Florida Atlantic
Trey Hendrickson wasn’t a huge part of the Saints for the first three years in the league playing behind Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport. Last season though, Hendrickson exploded for a career-high 13.5 sacks tying Aaron Donald in 2020.
