Leadership

When it comes to the quarterback position, it isn’t just solely based on how well you can play the position. If your teammates don’t trust you to lead them, then the quarterback is going to be ineffective regardless of his talent level.

Now, neither one of these players is entering the locker room this year. They were both not only a part of the Drew Brees finale last year, but they have also both spent a lot of time with their offensive teammates.

When Brees went down last year, Hill was the one who took his place. Hill also spent quality time on the field not acting as the quarterback which still got him time working with the offense. Winston has also spent time in practice with the first team.

One thing in this category that Winston has going for him is that he already knows and has the leadership ability to start at the position. He spent years with Tampa Bay as their starter. The two teams aren’t the same, but the leadership qualities of Winston are.
