New Orleans Saints risky prospect: Caleb Farley

The New Orleans Saints need to take Caleb Farley if he’s there. Farley was among the top-two cornerback prospects, but he could easily fall due to offseason surgery potentially scaring other teams.

He had back surgery in late March. There’s no denying that Farley does carry a risk with him due to that, but that could be exactly what it takes for him to get all the way down to No. 28.

Farley was recently mocked to the Jets at No. 34 by CBS Sports, so this isn’t just a pipe dream. It could be a reality. With Janoris Jenkins no longer on the roster, the Saints are craving a No. 2 cornerback.

Farley had good size at 6-foot-2, and he had a stellar career at Virginia Tech. Farley ended 2019 with 20 tackles and 4 interceptions. Farley opted out of the 2020 season given the Covid-19 concerns.

All indications are that he’ll be ready for training camp, but to be in the Big Easy, he’ll have to fall to 28 first. Given how Cards Wire wrote that the team should draft him without hesitation if he’s there at 16, it’s tough to see him falling as far as 28.

There’s a risk with his injury, but Farley is a big-time talent that would be a major upgrade for the Saints behind Marcus Lattimore.
