Wide Receiver

Last offseason, I was in this same position talking about how Tre’Quan Smith wasn’t cutting it like the Saints No. 2 receivers and that they need to look elsewhere for the answer to that problem. Well, they listened.

They went out and signed Emmanuel Sanders from the San Francisco 49ers. He actually played very well in Michael Thomas‘ place as he was injured most of the season. However, because of budgetary issues, the team ended up releasing Sanders.

Here we are again.

This time, I do think that Tre’Quan Smith showed enough last year to warrant another go-around from the team. Another receiver, Deonte Harris played very well in his snaps that he was afforded last year.

The team is still going to need some help in this position. The talent pool really drops off after Thomas and even after Smith. I would target someone in the draft for this situation because you are looking for a long-term answer.
