Linebacker

The Saints have released 2020 linebacker, Kwon Alexander. He was going to be the savior to come in and help Demario Davis at the position, but he ended up tearing his Achilles’ Tendon and having his season cut short. He did play a critical role while healthy.

That paired with the fact that he was owed $13 million with no dead cap hit to the team makes him a perfect cut for the team. That means that the Saints are in of a linebacker need for the team as they clearly aren’t loving the progress of third-round pick Zack Baun.

They have multiple ways they could turn from here. The free-agent market still holds budget-friendly options like Neville Hewitt, Avery Williamson, Tahir Whitehead. However, neither of them are long-term solutions to their problem.

They have been linked to several first-round linebackers in the upcoming draft including Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Zaven Collins, and Joseph Ossai. These are potentially all guys that could come in and start their rookie season.
