During the Sean Payton era, the New Orleans Saints offense has been regarded as one of the most statistically dominant offenses in NFL history. Equally important is Sean Payton’s ability to utilize the unique talents of each offensive weapon on the roster.

While many teams rely on their star playmakers, the Saints have been one of the league’s most reputable offenses behind the contributions of each player on the offensive unit.

As NFL defenses focus on the elite playmaking ability of Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara, the Saints have re-signed a player with great offensive skill whose role will increase in this upcoming season.

The Saints are going to have a tougher time scoring without Drew Brees leading the way, and Ty Montgomery could be a huge reason this offense stays elite.

Since 2015, running back/receiver Ty Montgomery has proven to be an electric player who utilizes a combination of speed, power, and athleticism to create problems for defenses.

Montgomery’s best year came in 2016 as a member of the Green Bay Packers when he amassed over 450 yards rushing with 350 yards receiving. In 2016, Montgomery was an integral part of the Packers’ offense hauling in 78.6. percent of his targets.

Throughout his career,  Montgomery has averaged 4.7 yards per carry in addition to123 receptions. Furthermore, as the post-Drew Brees era begins, expect Sean Payton to find innovative ways to use the hidden skill that the Saints have in the all-purpose player.

Ty Montgomery’s best game as a member of the New Orleans Saints came in the final week of the season against division rival Carolina Panthers. In Week 17, Montgomery rushed for over 100 yards averaging over 5 yards per carry.

While the New Orleans Saints have Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray as the featured backs in the offense expect Ty Montgomery to make huge contributions in the passing game for an offense that has struggled to find a consistent second option outside star receiver Michael Thomas.
