Cornerback

Another position the Saints could target in free agency is cornerback. Both Josh Norman and Richard Sherman, the team has an interest in the latter of the two, are still on the market.

While they aren’t the same talent they once were, the Saints will end up forcing management’s hand after the team released Janoris Jenkins. Jenkins came over from the Giants after being released.

He immediately filled in for the injured Eli Apple and played well enough to take his starting position. He continued to fill that role all of 2020. He was also released with the team’s attempt to get out of salary cap hell.

The Saints could use a cornerback, and they should be expected to take one early in the draft. We pegged Asante Samuel Jr. as a solid first-round option for New Orleans. A veteran free agent also makes sense.

Cornerback, defensive line and wide receiver are all three positions this team should still be targeting prior to the 2021 NFL Draft.
