P.J. Williams, 1-year, $2.3 million

P.J. Williams is the only player on this list to make more money and have the same responsibilities that he had last season. With the team franchise tagging Marcus Williams, they also decided to re-sign his backup — P.J. Williams.

In 2020, Williams only started in three games, but he appeared in 15 out of 16. During that season, he totaled 40 tackles none for a loss, one interception, two passes deflected, and two fumble recoveries with nothing else.

Williams played the role of the backup last year, and he is set to play that same role this year. With the team franchise tagging Marcus Williams (only good for one season), I can see why they brought Williams back as safety insurance if Marcus leaves next offseason.

The biggest downfall to this signing is that, even in a year where salaries are notoriously down, they gave Williams a raise. Now, granted, the raise is not big, it’s roughly $300,000 in base salary, but that is why his grade fell so much.

Grade: B-
