Tre’Quan Smith

Last offseason, all I did was write on how bad Tre’Quan Smith’s 2019 season was and how the Saints needed to find help for Michael Thomas and Drew Brees because Smith wasn’t cutting it as the No. 2 recevier on the team.

Well, fast forward one year and here I am proclaiming why Smith needs to be moved up to the No. 2 receiver spot again. In 2019, Smith only caught 18 passes for 234 yards as the No. 2 receiver, something I thought was pitiful.

The Saints didn’t give up on the young receiver’s development and with the help of Emmanuel Sanders, Smith pulled in 34 receptions for 448 yards — both of which were career highs for the third-year player out of Central Florida.

I believe that I now see what the Saints see in Smith and it is time to give him the position he deserves. With a new quarterback that can get the ball down the field, Thomas and Smith should be able to thrive together next season.
