Latavius Murray gave the Saints a spark of life this year. He was more than just a change-of-pace running back to Alvin Kamara; he ended up being a strong, reliable, downhill runner for the team that proved his worth.

Last season, Murray ran for 656 yards and four touchdowns. He also ended up starting for seven games this season. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry which was on the better side of running backs in the NFL in 2020.

If the New Orleans Saints decided to cut running back Latavius Murray, here are three free-agent options that are cheaper than Murray.

Murray’s cap hit only runs just over $4 million. When you look at the production that Murray gave last year, he has proved to be worth $4 million to the Saints. However, I would still not be surprised if they chose to cut Murray ahead of the new league year.

If they chose to go that way, the only way it would make sense is if they signed someone to back up Kamara that was cheaper than Murray. Therefore, they would have to sign a free agent for less than $4 million. Here are the top three that they could sign.
