The New Orleans Saints may have to prepare to lose several defensive linemen, and the financial situation they’re in won’t make bringing in talent easy.

Over the next few weeks, the New Orleans Saints are going to have to make moves to cut cap. Those moves are going to include not bringing back high-level talent that they’d typically love to retain.

Players like Trey Hendrickson and Sheldon Rankins likely won’t be back on the roster. David Onyemata will be back on a restructured deal, but with the team also planning to trade Malcom Brown, there will be more exiting the defensive line than being brought in.

The Saints will have to do something about that, and while it’s expected that they’ll draft some replacements, especially considering they should add compensatory picks, free agency could be an option.

Given that New Orleans was in the league’s worst financial situation entering the offseason, if they can clear the cap, they’ll have limited resources regardless. They’ll use any available cap on Marcus Williams and Jameis Winston.

That said, having in mind that any addition would have to be at a minimal cost to the franchise, let’s dive into six potential defensive line options.
