Trey Lance

Most mock drafts have the quarterback from North Dakota State going somewhere inside of the top five picks. However, if you are Chris Simms from CBS, you have Trey Lance as the No. 6 best quarterback available in the draft.

If that is the case, then the Saints have a better opportunity to either trade up mid-first and get Lance or see if they can feel out the field and see him fall to No. 28. Lance would be a long-shot, but he would also be the perfect dark horse.

After not playing in his freshman year, Lance completely broke out in his sophomore season. In 2019, Lance threw for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns in 16 college games at a mid-major college with minimal weapons.

Lance is also a mobile quarterback. In that same season, Lance ran for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has the possibility to be the best quarterback in this draft class and if he starts to fall the Saints need to start to call to trade up.
