New England Patriots

One of the top needs of the New England Patriots in the upcoming NFL Draft is an interior defensive lineman. The Patriots are losing two of their defensive lineman in the upcoming free agency leaving them in need.

Allen missed most of the 2020 season on injured reserve with a leg injury. Hopefully, that won’t leave him very appealing to other teams which will in fact leave him very appealing to the Saints in this trade scenario.

This would have to involve a sign and trade. With Allen being a free agent, he would have to agree to a contract with the Patriots and then this trade could commence. However, Allen’s contract would only be worth $1-2 million per year.

This would also replace the Saints’ need for two defensive tackles. Allen might not be worth the start for the team, but he would definitely be a backup who could take on that position if the time arose for him too.
