Michael Thomas

Having been a staple of the New Orleans Saints offense since coming to the franchise in 2016, Michael Thomas had the best season in NFL history in 2019. While 2020 was disappointing, it was full of injuries for the superstar receiver.

That said, this is still the most difficult one to make sense, especially after Thomas posted a photo of himself and Wilson at the Pro Bowl. He seemingly wants to play with Wilson if the superstar is brought to the Big Easy.

It’s just Thomas’s contract is one that would almost have to be shed.

He’s owed $18.8 million this season and then that number balloons to over $20 million per season for the next three years. Yes, he’s a superstar, but in order to bring in a superstar, the team may have to part ways with one.

Thomas caught an NFL record of 149 receptions two seasons ago and led the league in receiving yards last season. Those numbers were with a combination of Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Brees.

While he’d thrive with Wilson, the Saints would be able to make a Super Bowl contending team with Emmanuel Sanders, Deonte Harris, and Tre’Quan Smith among other rising stars they’ve found.

No one wants to see Armstead, Lattimore or Thomas go, but at the end of the day, to bring in a player of Wilson’s caliber and contract size, they may have to. If it meant getting rid of all three, would you still trade for Wilson?
