Marshon Lattimore

Marshon Lattimore is a three-time Pro Bowler that has been with the Saints since 2017. Of course, no one should want to trade him as he has a bright future in any organization. However, the Saints are going to have to pay him some big money soon.

Lattimore, having been a first-round pick, will play under his fifth-year option this season. After that, he could see upwards of $18 million per year. He’s a top-ten cornerback in the NFL, and with Jalen Ramsey up in that territory, Lattimore will likely expect something similar.

The Saints won’t be able to match that even next offseason after the massive deals they forked out to Hill, Alvin Kamara, and Demario Davis in 2019.

While Lattimore had a down year in 2019, his dominance was on full display this past season. He ended with 62 tackles and 2 interceptions. Since the stat was recorded in 2018, Lattimore posted his best missed tackle rate in 2020.

He’s continuing to improve, and cutting his cap hit of just over $10 million wouldn’t do that much to alleviate the team’s massive cap burden. Considering the future outlook though, the Saints may have to do it if they want Wilson in the Big Easy.
