If the Saints No. 1 quarterback option does not return to the team next season, here are four filler players until the Saints can find a long-term option.

To keep the drive alive with the potential quarterbacks that could be under center for the Saints next season, we are going to pretend that Jameis Winston doesn’t sign back, which is a realistic probability.

Their available salary cap is, as normal, lower than low.

In another article, I listed all the groups that the Saints aren’t in. They aren’t in the position to draft a high quarterback; they aren’t in a position to sign a big-name free agent; they are barely in the position to trade for a long-term option at quarterback.

With them virtually in salary cap hell, they might just need to take a couple of million dollars and sign a quarterback that is on the market that would not cost them much but would give them quality production for at least one, maybe two, years.

There are more than four options that you could throw into this category. Some honorable mentions include Jacoby Brissett, Andy Dalton, and Cam Newton. Here are the top four stopgap options for the black and gold should Jameis not comes back.
