Saints NFL Draft: 3 out-of-the-box first-round options
Chazz Surratt, LB, University of North Carolina
Chazz Surratt played all four years in college at the University of North Carolina. Surratt did not come into college as a star or even a starter for that matter. Surratt sat on the bench and North Carolina for the first couple of years he was there.
Like the situation above with Barmore, the Saints are in a position where they have to let go of a big-name free agent Kwon Alexander. They brought him over from San Francisco this year, but with the Saints working against a tight cap, Alexander is going to find himself cut.
It isn’t what most fans want, but when you are owed $13 million and have $0 in dead cap, you are going to be one of the first cuts. However, Surratt is a player currently projected to go mid to late second round that the Saints could see at the No. 28.
In the last two years, where Surratt started, he left with 207 tackles, 22.5 tackles for a loss, 12.5 sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles, and five passes defended. He did all that in just 24 college games.
