Ty Montgomery, RB

Ty Montgomery came into New Orleans in 2020 after being released from the New York Jets at the end of 2019. Montogomery played in Weeks 1 and 2 but then wasn’t seen again until Weeks 10, 11, 16, and 17. He wasn’t very used throughout the year.

However, there was one week this season where the Saints got a pure look at what Montogomery can do. In Week 17, after Alvin Kamara tested positive for COVID-19 and the other running backs were considered close contacts, Montgomery got the call to take the lead.

He ended up rushing 18 times for 105 yards. He showed that he can be a pure runner. Montgomery can also catch the ball in the open field. He is a very versatile slot receiver/running back combination that can be of use.

A pro for Montgomery is that he is a cheap player that can play at a level higher than his salary. If for some reason, the Saints can not bring back Latavius Murray and they choose to cut him, they can rest assured in Ty Montgomery.
