Marcus Williams, S

Marcus Williams is one of those players that the Saints want to keep around. Last year, they had Vonn Bell who was up for free agency and speculation was that they either had to decide to sign Bell last year or Williams this year.

Williams definitely pulled his weight in 2020. He ended with 59 tackles, seven passes defended, and three interceptions. He played alongside Malcolm Jenkins for the first time too and the two clicked and played well together.

If you look back through his other seasons, all Williams shows you is why he needs to be re-signed. Does that mean that the Saints are going to put a foot forward and try to bring the safety back to the team?

As you begin to understand the actual cap situation that the Saints are in, you begin to realize why this matchup can’t actually happen. Williams’ market value is above $10 million per year. The Saints simply don’t have that money to spend.
