2019 – Los Angeles Chargers – Jerry Tillery

With the No. 28 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers drafted defensive tackle Jerry Tillery from the University of Notre Dame. Tillery is another one of those players like Edmunds who came in, started, and has played almost all regular-season games since.

In 2019, Tillery totaled 17 tackles and two sacks. Those are stats you might expect out of a defensive tackle. His durability is also something that needs to be praised as well going in the trenches every game for two seasons straight.

In 2020, Tillery recorded 29 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. The improvement seen from year one to year two shows that Tillery will continue to improve over the next couple of years — especially if their defense gets better.

With a 6-foot-6, 295-pound frame, Tillery is a force on the line against opposing offensive lines. The Chargers found their tackle of the future, and again, they found a diamond in the rough at the No. 28 pick in this NFL Draft.
