San Francisco 49ers

Another team that could be in the market for a quarterback this offseason is the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners were apparently among the teams that looked into adding Lions veteran Matthew Stafford before he was dealt to Los Angeles.

The 49ers played most of last season with Nick Mullens captaining their team. After making a trade with the Saints to send Kwon Alexander and his contract to the Big Easy, the Niners were, in theory, looking towards 2021.

To have a successful season next year, they’ll need to have a competent quarterback.

Jimmy Garoppolo has shown he has that talent, but he must cement himself as the main presence in that locker room again. Garoppolo was 3-3 last season, playing in only six games. He had seven touchdowns and five interceptions.

C.J. Beathard was actually the most impressive Niners quarterback. San Fran went through three quarterbacks and still have Josh Rosen on their roster. They could use a player like Winston to step up and command an offense that started off relatively hot.

The Niners, just by targeting Stafford, showcase that they’re in the market for a quarterback, and Winston will be among the best out there.
