Brian Poole, CB, New York Jets

The likelihood of the New York Jets re-signing Brian Poole is not high. He finished as the third-best cornerback on the team behind Bless Austin and Pierre Desir. On top of the three of them, the Jets also have Bryce Hall and Arthur Maulet.

If I was the Jets, I wouldn’t waste the money with so many good cornerbacks on their roster. In 2020, Poole totaled 44 tackles (two for a loss), 1.0 sack, seven passes defended, and two interceptions while only starting and playing in nine games out of 16 total.

The Saints currently start superstar Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins at the cornerback position. Jenkins finished with 55 tackles, 12 passes defended, and three interceptions. As you can see, their stats are not far off from one another.

The biggest thing that is off though is their contracts. New Orleans could go out and sign Brian Poole for less than $5 million and get roughly the same stats as Janoris Jenkins who is costing the team a lot more than Poole would. They would have to release Jenkins.

Poole is also only 28 years old so he offers longevity that the 32-year-old Jenkins doesn’t.

Offer: 4-year, $18 million

Savings: roughly $4 million per year
