This is probably the most insane deal that we’re going to propose. The Saints get Watson, and he’d come into the organization and hopefully thrive alongside Alvin Kamara.

Instead of a quarterback with Thomas and Kamara, it’d be an elite quarterback with Kamara. Now, despite Thomas being the 2019 Offensive Player of the Year, Watson still seems a bit too valuable for just a straight flip.

Thomas will likely have to have surgery for some of the injuries he sustained during the season, and as his play declined in 2020, it is likely that so does his potential trade value. At 25, Watson, a former top-15 pick, has exceeded expectations, as has Thomas.

But, just take a look at who is in the Super Bowl. Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes will face-off, two elite quarterbacks. Last season, it was Mahomes and Jimmy Garoppolo. An elite quarterback will win this season and won last season.

The Saints, if Brees hangs up the cleats, need an elite quarterback, and if this is the deal that gets it done, it’s what New Orleans must do.
