The 1st Round

This second option trade for Rodgers involves no players but a hay-day of picks. This trade would involve the Packers getting two of the New Orleans Saints’ first-round pick. Obviously, this would be a trade that would span multiple years.

The Saints have a first-round pick this year and next year. However, because the Saints weren’t bad this year and are not projected to be bad next year, they should definitely consider giving away two first-rounders that will likely be below No. 25.

This would also allow the Packers to add some first-round depth behind their new franchise quarterback Jordan Love. Either that or they could turn to the defensive side of the ball and get some players to bolster the other side.

They are helping their team out either way and if they intend to move to a new era, they might be content with adding some more young depth to their roster instead of bringing in or trading for another aging talent from other teams.

Given the Saints’ cap situation, they’d also have to release a plethora of players to get Rodgers to the Big Easy without giving any players in a trade.
