Pass Protection

The Saints offensive line has allowed 29 sacks this year on Drew Brees (13), Taysom Hill (14), and Jameis Winston (2). That is not bad in comparison to Carson Wentz of the Eagles who has taken 50 sacks on the year from his offensive line.

However, the Green Bay Packers have only allowed 20 all year, the Kansas City Chiefs have allowed 22, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have only allowed 14 on the year. These are the teams that the Saints are going to go up against.

Compared to the entire NFL, they are one of the middle best. Compared to the teams in the playoffs, they are barely on par. When it comes to making a deep run into the playoffs, they are going to have to keep Drew Brees upright on every play.

In Cesar Ruiz’s first playoff game, he is going to have to show up like Larry Warford would have. On top of Ruiz, Peat and McCoy are going to have to play better than they have all season. Pro Bowler Terron Armstead must become the line leader too.
