David Montgomery

Over the course of the second half of the season, David Montgomery has been a force. Now, the Saints have a pretty good offensive line that can contain the running back and make sure he doesn’t get downfield, but Montgomery might be a bigger deal.

David Montgomery surpassed 1,000 yards rushing for the first time in his career this year. He also added eight rushing touchdowns. In terms of receiving, Montgomery grabbed 54 receptions for 438 yards and two touchdowns.

All of those numbers are career highs for the second-year back out of Iowa State. He also upped his yards per carry number from 3.7 to 4.3. Most of those numbers come from a second-half explosion out of No. 32.

The front line for the Saints’ defense is going to have to play well and contain even better than they have all season. If they let Montgomery bounce to the outside he can beat backs down the field. Demario Davis is going to have to be a tackle machine as well.
