The New Orleans Saints’ Pro Bowl-making running back Alvin Kamara will likely be sidelined on Sunday after testing positive for Covid-19.

Alvin Kamara landed on the New Orleans Saints’ Covid-19 list and is easily their biggest name to potentially miss a game due to the virus. The Saints lost Emmanuel Sanders earlier in the season as well, but he has since returned.

As for Kamara, he’s coming off his best game of the year which also happened to be one of the best rushing performances in league history.

Kamara went for a career-high 155 yards and six (!!!) touchdowns. Kamara neared the rushing touchdowns in a single game record, but the team opted to have one of their final touchdowns in the hands of Taysom Hill.

That said, Kamara has been placed on the Covid-19 list after a positive test result. If the test stands and it’s not found to be a false-positive result, the Saints will not have their star back as they close the season out against the Panthers.

Kamara won’t be on the list alone.

Per a team release, C.J. Gardner-Johnson has also been placed on the Covid-19 list. The Saints will be missing two of their impactful players against a Panthers team led by a former Saint, Teddy Bridgewater.

The Saints have dominated this season, so even if they lose, they’ll be a top-three team in the NFC, a conference with the pitiful NFC East. The Saints are in the south with a Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccanneers, the division’s second team to get in the playoffs.

Kamara will be sorely missed, but until he tests negative, the Saints will be without their lead back. With Latavius Murray as the backup, they should be just fine to take down a Carolina Panthers, a team that’s struggled this season.

If they win and the Packers lose and the Seahawks win, the Saints will be the top seed, so this game is important for playoff seeding.
