The Saints have already clinched a playoff berth, but to stave off more disappointment, they’ll have to reach at least the conference championship.

The last three seasons have ended in disappointment for the New Orleans Saints. That should cause them to stop putting the season’s success solely on what happens during the regular season.

Having gone 13-3 the last two seasons with only division titles to show for it, this team must produce with as much talent as they have. The Saints went 11-5 in 2017, the first of their three-year reign over the division.

They’ll likely set an NFC South record four straight division titles on Sunday. But, again, that doesn’t mean they’ll view this season as a success.  They need to make it happen in the postseason, and everyone from Sean Payton to Drew Brees should understand that.

Having lost in last season’s Wild Card round as the third seed in the NFC, the Saints will be looking to make a deep run as one of the conference’s best teams.

Since only one team per conference obtaining a first-round bye, New Orleans would be in the same scenario as last season. They’re currently the second seed after losing to the Eagles and not having the tiebreaker to fend off Green Bay.

With a team that should remember the pain of derailing expectations within hours, let’s hope the same mistakes aren’t made. That said, let’s dive into three Saints that will make or break this team in the postseason.
