Los Angeles Chargers

According to Vincent Frank from Sportsnaut, “An All-Pro performer as a rookie back in 2018, James missed all but five games of the 2019 campaign to injury. He then suffered a torn meniscus in the knee during training camp in August of 2020.

This means the former first-round pick could have potentially played in just five games in two seasons once the 2021 campaign comes calling. As for a potential trade, it might now make sense for Los Angeles to move on from the stud safety.”

The Saints could use an overhaul at the safety position. Last year via free agency, they lost star Vonn Bell to the Cincinnati Bengals. They then signed former Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins. There is still work to be done though in New Orleans.

Marcus Williams is due for a major contract update this season and has been playing well. If the Saints decide not to sign him, they could easily make this a sign and trade deal for Derwin James to get a younger, higher-potential safety.
