As the Saints head into the final stretch of the season, we take a look back at the third quarter of the season where the Saints won four in a row.

It’s nice to be wrong in the right way. The New Orleans Saints have exceeded my expectations for them thus far this season and are far beyond my season predictions.

And with only one-quarter of the season to go, they are not only primed to finish with a record similar to the last two seasons, but they are also currently in the driver’s seat to get the only NFC bye for this season.

Another season has brought another Drew Brees injury.

And like last season, we have a backup quarterback doing what we need to continue winning football games. Not to mention a defense that is the envy of the league, ranking first in points allowed and fourth in yards allowed.

And the beautiful thing is the Saints are doing it the old fashioned way.

It’s not fancy.

They are running the ball effectively, passing efficiently, stopping the run and not giving up as many big plays as they did in the first few weeks of the season. And despite the fact that we’ve put the ball on the ground more than we should, we are still +7 in the turnover margin.

These are the things winning teams do.
