Trey Hendrickson, DE

Trey Hendrickson has been the best defender on New Orleans this year so far. There is literally zero people, if asked who would be the best defender on the Saints, would have thrown out the name of a backup defensive end.

However, Hendrickson got the chance to start at the beginning of the season due to an injury from the starting end, Marcus Davenport. Hendrickson used it to the fullest and thrived in his starts. Now, he sees the same, if not more, snaps than Davenport.

Hendrickson has 9.5 sacks on the season. That is 4.0 more than the next best Saint who is Cameron Jordan. Hendrickson’s 9.5 sacks are also good enough to be tied for the lead in the entire NFL in total sacks.

On top of that, he has 9.5 tackles for a loss, which is also good enough to be the best on the team. He also adds one pass defended and 20 total tackles. Hendrickson has turned out to be a star on the Saints’ line. He should continue to see more time as the season progresses.
