Number Two: Robert Griffin III

I know and understand that adding Robert Griffin III as a potential candidate to replace Drew Brees can come as a surprise, but if you look at it from a financial standpoint it makes perfect sense.

Griffin III would receive an opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback job against Taysom Hill, and the Saints wouldn’t have to pay him a ridiculous amount to do so either.

Griffin has made just four million dollars with the Baltimore Ravens over the past two seasons and it seems like the team and Griffin are eager for a mutual departure.

The Ravens seem to really like the talent they have in Trace McSorley to back up Lamar Jackson but Griffin is certainly a better signal-caller overall. Yes, his injury history is a concern, but so is Taysom Hill’s and it hasn’t prevented the Saints from using him in the roles they have.

RG3 has had a wildly productive career and it’s looking increasingly obvious that the Saints want their next signal-caller to have a bit more mobility. If used the correct way, RG3 could thrive in New Orleans and save the team money at the same time.
