Alec Ogletree, ILB

The linebacker position was one of the most needful for the attention of the Saints organization. They addressed that with the trade that landed them Kwon Alexander, but they still lost a linebacker in the trade so they are still down a linebacker.

This seven-year vet spent the first part of his career with the St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams and then the next two years with the New York Giants. Last year, Ogletree totaled 80 tackles, 1.0 sacks,  one interception, and three hits on the quarterback.

Ogletree started all 13 games he appeared in last season. He may not be a highlight real linebacker, but he is still a guy that can get the job done. At this point, that is all the Saints need to be looking for.

Whether Ogletree would come in and start is not the question, but he would come in and make an immediate impact on the depth. The injury record the Saints linebackers, especially Alexander, have would suggest that Ogletree would be playing sooner rather than later.
