Number Two: Understaffed Receiving Corps

The New Orleans Saints easily have one of the most intriguing wide receiver groups in the entire NFL when they’re all on the field at the same time. Unfortunately for the Saints, they have rarely had the entire unit at full strength this season.

A wide receiver unit that consists of Michael Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Tre’Quan Smith, Deonte Harris, and Marquez Callaway is any general manager’s dream but at least in this season the team has struggled to bring out the same unit on a week to week basis.

One especially rough week came against the Carolina Panthers when the Saints took the field without Michael Thomas or Emmanuel Sanders and still won the game. Marquez Callaway really emerged as a legitimate wide receiver in that game and ever since has seen a larger role in the offense.

The receiving corps has been banged up all season and not a single wide receiver on the team has played the entire season. The Saints receivers may not be the biggest names on the market, but they are certainly playing like the top-notch team everyone knows they are.
