Number One: Demario Davis

Demario Davis led the New Orleans Saints in tackles once again and played a pivotal role in making sure the defense was lined up correctly and playing at their best.

Davis, 31, is the team’s defensive captain and one of the mentor’s on the team. His play style and energy on the field and during the pregame huddle does not go unnoticed.

Davis managed to record another impressive stat line against the quarterbackless Denver Broncos on Sunday as he recorded nine tackles while playing 84 percent of the team’s defensive snaps.

He would oftentimes take on multiple blockers to allow his teammates to make big plays including Kwon Alexander and Malcolm Jenkins who especially seemed to take advantage.

Being the defensive captain in a circumstance as uncertain as Denver’s was on Sunday is no easy accomplishment, and Davis’ job was to ensure the team didn’t over pursue and play down to their competition.

Davis not only played well on Sunday, but he also gave the defense life.
