Marcus Williams

This one isn’t as realistic.

Marcus Williams has been playing at a high level. We talked last year when Vonn Bell’s contract was up that they had to choose to either pay Bell or pay Williams. When they let Bell walk, I thought for sure that they were going to pay Williams this offseason.

However, I could truly see the Saints letting Williams walk and drafting a safety in the NFL Draft to replace him. That would not only allow the Saints to develop another talent, but they would also not have to pay upwards of $7 million per year.

Currently, he only makes $1.5 million per year. That type of increase is something that the Saints really couldn’t afford. Williams is going to be a good talent, and if New Orleans could find the money, I would love to keep him. It just can’t be at the expense of another talent.

The New Orleans Saints have decisions to make this offseason. They are not going to be easy decisions either. These three players are players that the Saints most likely can’t afford to keep going into the 2021 season.
