Jared Cook

Jared Cook has had some of his best seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He has been a sturdy, veteran presence at the position and has played at a high level. However, his time with the team has come to an end at the end of the season.

2020 has probably been his worst year with the team so far. Unfortunately, he is just getting older and his productivity level is slowly decreasing. Because of that, the Saints can’t afford to keep paying him $7.5 million per year.

That is all topped with the fact that the Saints traded up in the third round of the NFL Draft to snag a tight end out of Dayton — Adam Trautman. He has slowly been getting more snaps and reps with the first-team offense as of late.

He is built big like Cook and has the upside of Cook’s career. The more we see him play, the more he makes me think he will be very talented. For that reason, the Saints shouldn’t pay Cook as much as he has been paid, and they should most likely just let him walk.
